Mihingo Lodge is one of the best eco-lodges in Uganda. It is located on the boundary of Lake Mburo National Park. Its serene setting atop a rocky outcrop provides stunning views of the park’s rolling hills and scattered acacia woodlands.

This Luxury lodging facility is the most upmarket lodge in the Lake Mburo National Park. The lodge boasts of the most exquisite and cozy accommodation to tourists combined with adventure that cannot be experienced in another lodge within the Park.

This luxurious lodge is set outside Lake Mburo National Park and sits on the top of the hill that grants visitors clear views of the surrounding environment. This Lodge is nestled at the top of Kopjes that date back to 500 million years ago and offer tourists with the spectacular views of the Park as well as the Wildlife species such as Klipspringers, Impalas, Zebras and Buffaloes among others within the Park. There are currently 12 spacious tented rooms that are all exceptionally designed to vary from the others.

The Mihingo Lodge comprises of twelve classic tents it comprises of elegant guest rooms fitted with nice beddings, mosquito nets with ensuite private bathrooms free toiletries. The architectural design of the rooms is magical with a true divine touch of a real African wilderness, are furnished with solar-run water heaters that allow tourists to enjoy warm water when they so desire.

Mihingo Lodge offers amenities to guests such as free internet connection, laundry services, free parking yard, room service, with a swimming pool that gives allowance to visitors to enjoy the breeze and sunset atmosphere.

The lodge has a well-developed restaurant and a stocked bar that serves both soft and hard drinks it is offers a number of activities to clients such as nature walk, horse riding, cycling their service are attained at friendly price. The delicious meals offered at the Lodge will make you want to stay more days at the Lodge and meals can be served in the rooms at the tourist’s convenient time. Interestingly, Mihingo Safari Lodge is the only facility in the whole of Uganda that offers tourists with horseback rides in the wilderness.

Eco-Conscious Architecture and Operations

The design of Mihingo Lodge reflects a deep respect for its natural environment. Each of its luxury tents is built on stilts, reducing ground impact and preserving the natural landscape. Materials used in construction are locally sourced, including wood and stones from the area, ensuring minimal environmental disruption.

Mihingo Lodge operates primarily on solar energy, which powers its lighting, water heating, and other facilities. Rainwater harvesting systems also supply water to the lodge while reducing strain on local water sources. The lodge implements a comprehensive waste management system, separating organic waste for composting and recycling wherever possible.

Contributions to Wildlife Conservation

One of Mihingo Lodge’s most significant contributions to eco-tourism is its anti-poaching program. Recognising the threats posed by poaching in and around Lake Mburo National Park, the lodge funds and manages an anti-poaching unit that patrols the area. This initiative has significantly reduced illegal hunting and helped restore wildlife populations, including zebra, eland, and impala.

The lodge also runs a predator compensation program to mitigate human-wildlife conflict. By compensating local farmers for livestock lost to predators, the program discourages retaliatory killings of animals like leopards and hyenas, fostering coexistence between humans and wildlife.
